The editorial is based on the comparison between government preschool like anganawadis and private preschool and the effects it makes on the child’s ability to further learn things in the future. The author proves with numbers that the private pre schooling is much better than government pre-schooling. She makes her argument adamant by comparing the improvements in cognitive ability and the ability to read of the first-grade students coming from both the pre-school standards What the author said is indeed true, India being a country which has more than 1.2 million anganawadis with a sole motive of providing free pre schooling to students. The sad story is that in the modern days, the number of students going to anganawadis has decreased in a humongous amount. The main reason which I observe is the rising kindergarten schools along with the school which the students would be attending for the first grade as well as the poor quality of the teachers and curriculum of anganawadis in comparison with the early said nursery schools. It is not a viable solution to disband all the anganawadis citing the following reasons. By extending the walls of anganawadis to that of school, the government would be able to do a better job as well as in a economical sense the expense would be reduced.
